Hagiography for a Dream

Posted on September 27, 2020January 9, 2024 by Girassol

Brothers and sisters… mother like I’ve never had… dad…
Gentle thunder echoes, lost heroes of a shattered glass sharp stolen zephyr
Horizon so long gone beyond my reach.
Please hear me, anybody…! Broken winged birdsong as I streak
In steeled comet splendor across the barred and beaten sky of my heart.

I met a man in the long late twilight of his boyhood
A gentle lion man’s maned face ringed in untold array of chaotic embers.
I came crashing, murky waves of a roaring tsunami’s last breath
Into the gentle coves of his eyes so knowing.

Blind hunger strums, felt hammers sledge on the dust laden
Saloon harpsichord in the late empty orchestral hall of my life.

We play pretty songs
Pity pangs, and ping pong balls
Ricochet through the stale air between us.
Fevered slash writ slaps
Back and forth-
Like a blind metronome
Keeping metered pains.

The iron palate of internal wounds-
Luffing sails of spilled intentions,
Sighing resignations,
We barter in a waltz of the damaged.
